Chiropractor
Dr. Shariff established Whiplash Pain Center in 2001 after moving to Charleston from upstate New York. Dr. Shariff earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in December 2000 from New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, NY. He has extensive experience in pain management including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, headaches, and numbness and tingling of the extremities. He has been practicing in West Ashley for most of his career and is also the only chiropractor in Charleston, South Carolina with an accident re-construction certificate from the Society of Automotive Engineers.
Dr. Shariff is a graduate of the Whiplash and Brain Injury Traumatology Program. Graduates of this program have received the most in-depth, science-based training available today. The program covers the entire spectrum from the physics of motor vehicle crashes to human biomechanics to diagnostics and management. (Note that in previous years, the program was referred to as the Masters’ Certification Program but was changed to the current name to more accurately reflect the current focus of the program, and to avoid confusion over the meaning of the word ‘Masters.
He also The Annual SRISD Scientific Conference: This advanced program is offered only to graduates of the Whiplash and Brain Injury Traumatology program. Attendees can elect to take a comprehensive examination for Advanced Certification which he took and passed.
Dr. Shariff has treated many patients who have been in car crashes and has helped thousands of people in the tri-county area. He also participated in CRASH: CRASH is an opportunity for any interested person to observe, first hand, human subject full-scale crash testing at the Spine Research Institute of San Diego testing facility. In addition, attendees will learn about crash testing, crash safety, and related engineering and clinical topics over a comprehensive three-day course. Attendees can elect to take a comprehensive examination for certification in Motor Vehicle Crash Forensic Risk Analysis (previously, Low-Speed Rear Impact Auto Crash Reconstruction). Car accidents require more knowledge to treat, manage, and document. Having the right information for a personal injury attorney or an insurance claims adjuster is important so they can understand what the patient experienced after the crash.
Dr. Shariff was named the 2013 District 3 director for the South Carolina Chiropractic Association (SCCA) and works to inform other chiropractors in the District of new regulations in the chiropractic profession and organize quality continuing education programs for SCCA members. He was also the president of the association from 2017-2018 and is still involved in events with the SCCA to help promote wellness in the community.
Dr. Shariff, a Charleston Chiropractor is now a member of the Professional Sports Care Team and an Official Chiropractic provider for the PGA Tour and Champions Tour.
Dr. Shariff uses chiropractic care to improve the health and wellness in all areas of patient's lives, whether they are having problems with back pain or neck pain, or just want to start feeling better when they wake up in the morning. Dr. Shariff takes a "whole person" approach in chiropractic care, which means looking for the underlying causes of disease, discomfort, and pain, as opposed to just treating the symptoms. Many seemingly unrelated symptoms often arise from imbalances in the spinal column, and Dr. Shariff will be able to determine the root of the pain and create a personalized chiropractic and wellness plan to suit each patient's individual needs. Under the supervision and care of our caring and skilled chiropractor, patients report higher functioning in all areas of their lives.
Outside of the office, Dr. Shariff loves playing golf, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his wife and two boys. He tries to squeeze in a round or two of golf whenever he can get away from the office; some of his favorite courses to play in the area are at Kiawah Island. He also enjoys fishing in his free time and loves to share many of his fishing and golf stories to patients while in the office. Dr. Shariff’s favorite travel destinations always seem to be tropical destinations when spending time away from the beautiful Charleston area.
